Amber Heard files for divorce from Johnny Depp

Amber Heard has allegedly filed for divorce from Johnny Depp after just 15 months of marriage.

30-year-old Amber Heard submitted the application for divorce from his husband and renowned 52-year-old Hollywood actor Johnny Depp in Los Angeles Court on May 23.

Other changes made in Depp's response include the couple's official date of separation - he listed it as "To Be Determined", while Heard claimed it was May 22, the day before she filed for divorce. Amber has also asked for spousal support. The site also reports that the couple does not have a prenuptial agreement.

Heard and Depp married in February of 2015 at a private civil ceremony at their home in Los Angeles.

TMZ reported: "The tension was palpable".

The last time they were seen together publicly was in April, when they appeared in a weird video to apologise for smuggling Heard's two dogs, Pistol and Boo, into Australia. Heard pleaded guilty to falsifying immigration documents to smuggle them into the country via private jet and was let off with a one-month good behaviour bond. They married in a small, private ceremony in Los Angeles in February past year before celebrating at a larger event on Depp's private island in the Bahamas.

Johnny, meanwhile, is now in the midst of promoting his new film, Alice Through The Looking Glass, which is due to be released on Friday.

After splitting from the long-term partner Vanessa Paradis, Jonny started dating Amber.

His marriage to Heard was Depp's second, and Heard's first.

"He claimed his comments about Depp, including one suggesting it was about time Heard's dogs "b*****ed" off back to the United States", had got inside the actor's head, in the style of fictional psychopath Hannibal Lecter.

When the case was settled, the estranged couple released a video apology expressing remorse and advising travelers to respect Australian quarantine laws.
