In all, Mizzou is 1-3 all-time in the SEC Tournament. This is the first time that Mizzou has made back-to-back appearances in the tournament. If Mississippi State drops their opener, they would face the loser of that game in what would most likely be one intense loser's bracket matchup.

Tuesday afternoon's matchup between the Crimson Tide and Wildcats will mark the eighth meeting between the two in the conference's postseason tournament.

Left-hander David Parkinson earned the win Wednesday, allowing two runs, five hits and two walks against six strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings.

Kentucky enters the SEC Tournament on a two-game win streak after defeating Missouri in the last two games of the series that ended the regular season.

Grisanti, a freshman who had not hit a home run all season, blasted a solo shot to right field to break a 5-5 tie. RHP Juan Martinez suffered the loss in relief. Alabama took a 4-3 lead after three innings, but SC would answer throughout the game for the series sweep.

Alabama took a 3-0 lead in the top of the second inning before Kentucky (32-25) chipped away with single runs in the fourth and seventh innings. The two teams went back and forth, responding to one another with runs at almost every opportunity.

Woodman, also known as "Superman" to his teammates and Ole Miss faithful, carried the Rebels out of the darkness of the first three innings with another day of great hitting.

There was no inter-division conference play during those years. The top four hitters were also the top four in the order in Holcombe, Vance, Salem and Taylor. The Aggies exploded for three runs in the bottom of the second on a two-run double by Jonathan Moroney and an RBI triple by Austin Homan to grab a 3-0 lead. Thirty of the team's home games were played at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium in Hoover.

One-two punch: Starting pitchers Jordan Sheffield and Kyle Wright can match up with any lineup in the tournament if the Commodores can get to about the third day, when Sheffield would likely take the mound. The Friday night ace shook off an ugly first frame to give the Rebs four innings of one-hit ball in a 5-1 win over UGA. Of the 10 runs scored by Ole Miss, only four were team earned runs. "There are four or five guys in that bullpen that they can trust".

With the victory, Ole Miss advances to the double elimination portion of the SEC Tournament. It was the fourth game in six days between the two teams, who finished up the regular season over the weekend.
