'Star Trek Beyond' to premiere at San Diego Comic-Con

As you all know, Idris Elba is on board as the movie's villain, Krall, who will introduce a new alien species to the Star Trek universe.

Directed by Justin Lin and starring Idris Elba, Chris Pine, Simon Pegg, Zachary Quinto, and Zoe Saldana, Star Trek Beyond will hit theaters in the U.S. and United Kingdom on July 22, 2016. The event will include appearances by the movie's cast and crew, as well as a live concert performance by the San Diego symphony orchestra. Saldana recalled that her first Star Trek experience happened to be in a different language as she overheard the show's music and found her mother and grandmother watching it in Spanish.

A ceremony was also held to name the road outside Stage 31 - where much of the original Star Trek series was filmed - Leonard Nimoy Way. The event was attended by cast members Karl Urban, Zachary Quinto and Chris Pine along with director Justin Lin.

Paramount Pictures just announced that it will debut Star Trek Beyond in a big way at Comic-Con International: San Diego this July. That's about two months before the Star Trek franchise celebrates its 50th anniversary.

Even Scotty, the Enterprise's engineer (Simon Pegg, who also co-wrote the film), looks like an action star.

Justin Lin directs the third in the newly-rebooted franchise, with JJ Abrams on producing duties. In the furthest reaches of space, The Enterprise is all but destroyed when it's set upon by a new enemy.

"Axanar" takes place 21 years before the events of "Where No Man Has Gone Before", the second pilot of the classic "Star Trek" series, which introduced William Shatner as James T. Kirk. The crystal-clear images, coupled with IMAX's customized theatre geometry and powerful digital audio, create a unique environment that will make audiences feel as if they are in the movie.
