Quaker Oats recalls Quinoa Granola Bars

Quaker recalls quinoa bars after possible Listeria contamination

If you happen to have a box in the pantry, here's how to tell if your Quaker Oats Granola Bars have been recalled.

Quaker Oats is hitting the recall button over granola bars potentially contaminate with Listeria.

The first is the 6.1-ounce box of Quaker Quinoa Granola Bars Chocolate Nut Medley.

"Listeria monocytogenes (L.mono) is an organism, which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems". The symptoms include high fever, stiff neck, severe headache, flu-like symptoms, muscle aches, nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. Pregnant women infected with listeria could suffer miscarriages or stillbirth.

The company said that while the vast majority of the product was spared from store shelves, a couple of kinds were distributed nationwide.

Health Canada advises there have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products.

These products should either be thrown out or returned to the store for a refund.
