Josep Bartomeu hails 'extraordinary' Barcelona coach Luis Enrique

Madrid beat Deportivo La Coruna 2-0 at the Riazor thanks to two goals from Cristiano Ronaldo, but a Luis Suarez hat-trick in Granada ultimately clinched the title for Barca.

Barca began the season aiming to become the first team to win consecutive trebles but those ambitions were halted by elimination from the Champions League quarter-finals by Atletico Madrid.

Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane, however, was following the developments at Nuevo Los Carmenes Stadium, where first-place Barcelona had grabbed a 2-0 lead at halftime on Saturday over Granada.

The former French global also hailed Barcelona's performance, saying "Barcelona were ahead for a long time and we couldn't catch them, they deserved the title".

Atletico, who challenged Barca for most of the season, dropped out of contention after a surprise loss to last-placed Levante in the previous round but they finished just three points behind Barca after their win over Celta who finished the season in sixth.

It was a bittersweet day for Ronaldo, who has now scored 50 goals in each of the last six seasons, but, astonishingly, finishes well behind Barcelona's Luis Suarez, who has found the net 59 times this season.

However, Barca were on top form with Luis Suarez scoring a hat-trick in a 3-0 win, which gave them a one-point cushion at the top.

He said he was pleased with his side's display in a game in which they "controlled all of the phases of play".

With the Spanish Liga in the books for the 2015-16 season and the 6th title in 8 years for FC Barcelona, the two Marid rivals have one last match to play: The UEFA Champions League Final in Milan.

Barcelona face Sevilla in next Sunday's Copa del Rey final, while Real face city rivals Atletico Madrid in the Champions League final on May 28.

"We set out at the start of the season to win all trophies, as nobody had ever done".

"I feel good at Atletico", Griezmann told French TV Show Canal Football Club.

"There is the sensation that 20 or 25 years ago this club wouldn't have won it because we would have drowned in our own pessimism, but I think this generation and this team has changed that".

"We are deserving champions".

"I suffered because I knew we couldn't slip up again".
