With Lowry faltering, Dragic flourishing, Heat seek 2-0 lead

In game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals, Lowry's Toronto Raptors were down by two points to the Miami Heat as time ticked off the clock to end regulation. Dwayne Wade s added 24 points, 2 blocks and 3 steals in an all around effort. The Heat are expected to make full use of Joe Johnson's playoff experience and Hassan Whiteside's impressive rim protecting ability and great rebounding skills.

The Heat will be officially playing without their All-Star forward Chris Bosh throughout the remainder of the postseason. But Lowry was really bad in Game 1. Like their first round series against the Pacers, the Raptors just needed to put together a five-minute stretch in the second half against the Heat to come back from a double-digit deficit in the fourth.

"Lowry's three as soon as it left everybody in the building had an idea it was going to go", Spoelstra said.

"I hit the bone, and I'm sure it's bruised", Wade told reporters following the game. Getting tangled up with Raptors center Jonas Valančiūnas, Whiteside fell awkwardly to the ground while it appeared that his knee buckled under him. Early in the first quarter, he had to receive treatment in the locker room after an inadvertent slip seven minutes and six seconds into the game. The Miami backcourt carried the team through the final two games of its first-round series against the Charlotte Hornets and stepped up again against Toronto with a combined 50 points from Goran Dragic and Dwyane Wade. That shot wasn't the difference in the ball game, but it once again highlighted the Raptors vulnerability along the perimeter. Wade added nine third-period points, moving into 16th place on the NBA's all-time postseason scoring list.

"I'm going to hang out here and just be in the gym, try to get back to just enjoying it, being in the gym and having fun", he said via the Toronto Star. For optimistic Heat fans, this spells doom for Toronto guards Powell, DeRozan, and Lowry.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr was pleased with the way his side responded after a slow start which saw them trailing by 17 points at one stage in the second in the second quarter.

Even Udonis Haslem, who typically takes the reins of resetting the Heat's emotional equilibrium, was too distraught to direct them. Even Ross off the bench chipped in a playoff career-high 19. The Heat had dropped five of the previous six meetings with the Raptors before pulling off the Game 1 victory, losing three straight on the road by an average of 12.7 points. They've, somewhat unfortunately, been here before (see last series). "We still have the confidence to win four games". That was a growing moment for our team. I have (been through slumps like this), but not at this time, and that's what sucks.

"We know he's not shooting the ball well, he's not making plays with shots that he normally makes".

It only counts as one win, though the Miami Heat had to work twice as hard to get it.
