Blues even series on Backes' OT game-winner, beat Stars 4-3

Through two games, Dallas has had seven power plays, for a total of 12 minutes, 9 seconds, and has no goals and just eight shots on goal.

Johansen pulled one back for the Predators instantly, but late goals from Couture and Tommy Wingels made it a comfortable win in the end for the Sharks. "We've got to put our work boots on and get to work". How many times have teams coughed up the lead, or at least momentum, to us? The team has given themselves a great chance at going into game five up 3-1 in the series, which would be ideal. The coaches also went head-to-head in the 2006 playoffs, when the Sabres beat Hitchcock's Philadelphia Flyers. "It's a natural tendency". The team had a bad opening shift that saw Jamie Benn and his entire line cycle around the Blues and fly by like nobody was even there.

"Take the officials out of the equation", Ruff said. "His play has been infectious for our team". With how much the Stars, and specifically Antoine Roussel, are finding the penalty box this series, it should garner enough chances for the Blues to continue this trend through the second round.

The Blues got the win. But they had been on the offensive the entire overtime. The thing that impressed me more than anything is the way we played in overtime. The Blues' control of the game lasted about nine minutes; that's how long it took the Stars to adjust to their new opponent.

"This is like (their) Game 7". With San Jose leading 1-0, Rinne robbed Nick Spaling with a pad save on a 2-on-1 with San Jose short-handed.

Now, Kari Lehtonen has been phenomenal up to this point, and he just had a rough game on Sunday afternoon. He might have wished to be less accurate. This series is going to go the distance though, meaning the Stars have to find a way to win a game on the road and with Tyler Seguin slated to come back in the next two contests I think Dallas gets the win on Tuesday night.

It marked Backes' second OT goal in these play-offs, having also scored the victor against the Chicago Blackhawks in game one of their series.

Lehtonen was replaced by Antti Niemi (19 saves on 20 shots) after the first period. Lehtonen made the first save but Troy Brouwer was in the right spot to slam home the rebound, and send the two sides into the intermission at 3-1. We needed to address some stuff.

David Backes. The captain gets his fair share of stick, so to speak, but he's stepped up his game this playoff year. He now has two game-winning goals in overtime in two straight series. He faced power plays.

David Backes looks like hell.

"Well, obviously he's the one guy that we got a radar on, that we know when he's out there, we want to make sure we don't give him much ice, and I thought for the most part we didn't make any mistakes that allowed any big rush plays when he was out there", Stars coach Lindy Ruff said of Tarasenko, via There are lots of guys who go into traffic, when the puck is coming, they'll jump out of the way and try to tip it.
