Prince death: No sign of foul play

There were no obvious signs of trauma to his body or anything that would imply his death was a suicide, Carver County Sheriff Jim Olson said Friday.

There were no signs of trauma to Prince's body and, as of now, officials have no reason to believe his death was a suicide, authorities said Friday.

Mourners have flocked to Prince's recording studio, Paisley Park in Chanhassen, Minnesota, and to the concert venue First Avenue in Minneapolis, which appeared in Prince's movie, "Purple Rain".

"A few hours ago, Prince was celebrated by a small group of his most beloved: family, friends and his musicians, in a private, attractive ceremony to say a loving goodbye", the publicist said.

'In life he was a very private person We are going to go continue to respect that in our investigation'. To us, he was a community member and a good neighbor.

A spokeswoman for the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office says the agency doesn't plan to release any preliminary information until autopsy results are completed.

An autopsy was conducted yesterday, but an official cause of death may not be known for weeks pending toxicology results. Olson did not comment on whether investigators believe foul play was involved.

Work will begin Friday morning to learn what caused the death of Minnesota's brightest musical star.

The office received a medical call at 9:43am and responded with fire, sheriff and ambulance, standard operating procedure according to the Sheriff.

On Saturday afternoon, Prince's family members were seen among the mourners at the makeshift memorial, reporter Nancy Rosenbaum tells NPR, including Prince's brother-in-law, Maurice Phillips, who greeted visitors. However, Olson stressed that it's "normal protocol" to investigate an unwitnessed death and that "no inference should be taken".

"Multiple sources in Moline tell us Prince was rushed to a hospital and doctors gave him a "save shot"... typically administered to counteract the effects of an opiate", TMZ said.

Jeremiah Freed, who runs the website drfunkenberry.com and who got to know Prince after writing about him over the years, said he last saw Prince at the dance party.

She says Prince suffered hip injuries while performing and damaged his body when jumping from risers in his high heels during his "Purple Rain" days.

Regarding the scene upon arrival, the sheriff said, "It was certainly somber".
