Minnesota Sheriff on Prince: No Signs of Trauma on Body

"Michelle and I join millions of fans from around the world in mourning the sudden death of Prince", the statement from Obama said.

The statement did not say where the service was held, but friends such as percussionist Sheila E. and bassist Larry Graham were seen Saturday entering Prince's suburban Minneapolis estate, Paisley Park.

Paramedics tried to perform CPR but were unable to revive him, authorities said.

The Purple Rain hitmaker's body was reportedly discovered at his Paisley Park compound in Minnesota early on Thursday morning, sources confirmed to website TMZ. Many said how proud they were of the city's native son, and how saddened they were by the fact that he died alone - as well as by unconfirmed reports his death could be linked to an overdose of painkillers.

"In life, he was a very private person", Olson said. "For us, he's a community member and good neighbor".

Police said the autopsy, which they performed a day later on Friday, April 22, had been completed, but a cause of death would take several more weeks to determine, since officials are running a battery of toxicology and other tests.

Olson said when they went to check on him, they found him unresponsive on the first floor of the home. He was pronounced deceased at 10:07. He was found unresponsive in an elevator at his studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota. The medical emergency prompted the pilot of his private jet to make an emergency landing in Moline, Illinois as the superstar flew home from a gig in Georgia.

The four-hour autopsy was finished Friday around 1 p.m. central time, but full results will not be ready for a few weeks.

Prince's cousin Chazz Smith said he could not comment on reports about Prince's health and would not say when he last saw his cousin.

Weaver extended her thanks to those showing respect.

Olson, the sheriff, and a medical examiner's office spokeswoman declined Friday to say whether prescription drugs were taken from the home after his death.

Medical examiners are working with the Sheriff's Office. "The Carver County Sheriff's Office, with the assistance of the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office and The Midwest Medical Examiner's Office, are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death".
