Ander Herrera wants to keep United's run going at title-chasing Spurs

The Belgian says it is vital they upset Mauricio Pochettino's high-flying Spurs and maintain their charge.

The French striker said "it was certainly very important" to get the win versus Everton as it has "put us back on track" for a top-four finish. They are very strong and fighting for the title. "But we believe. That is the most important thing". Spurs have actually only won two of their last five in the league and they couldn't even beat a 10 man Arsenal side at the Lane at the beginning of March.

"I think Spurs and Leicester are the only teams that have been consistent".

"It is my, or our, personality, as a manager and as a staff", Pochettino explained. LVG's philosophy is always to keep the opposition from scoring and then see what happens at the other end and I don't expect him to change that approach for a trip to one of the best teams in the country.

Pochettino does not have an agent and said he would personally negotiate any new deal for himself and his backroom staff.

"It's true you always show how we are - we are tough, we press high, we work hard on the pitch and in training".

Granted, he's not the only big performer in the Londoners' XI, but Kane has netted six of their last eight efforts, helping them to a 2-2 draw in the North London Derby, a routine win over Aston Villa, a hammering of Bournemouth and a somewhat plucky draw at Liverpool - he pulled them back from 1-0 down. "This is how we are, as people, it's our character". The best way to defend against good players is by getting the ball. Better, in fact, that they would have done had they appointed Louis van Gaal, as they tried to do, in the spring of 2014. A throng of Tottenham players will be delighted with the extended period of rest ahead of the visit of United.

"I think I need to show respect", Pochettino said. He is one of our references.

In any case, this year has been so positive overall that I think most Spurs fans are just generally quite happy at the moment (at games some still can't resist yelling abuse at Lamela though, despite his excellent contributions). "United are back in London on Wednesday night for their FA Cup quarter-final replay against West Ham, which I think will be on their mind at the weekend".
