Jose Mourinho sacked by Chelsea Football Club

Chelsea's Technical Director Michael Emenalo has claimed that Jose Mourinho was sacked because of an ongoing rift between himself and several of the club's biggest stars behind the scenes, according to The Sun.

Guus Hiddink is in the frame to replace Mourinho as an interim boss until the summer, when Chelsea could move for Italy manager Antonio Conte.

Nothing else could explain why the players at Chelsea, the very same ones who would've run through brick walls for him up until last season, came across as timid and mediocre this term.

But Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich decided he could not risk keeping the fans' favorite in the dugout as the midway point of the season approaches with Chelsea only a point above the relegation zone.

The same bond was in evidence last season, when the Blues romped to the title and League Cup, with Terry an integral part of the success. He's a passionate man with a magnificent work ethic and vast knowledge. While those traits do carry a lot of value in football management, his tendency to be somewhat stubborn and inflexible could be why his tenures haven't made it past the three year mark smoothly so far.

Hiddink held a similar caretaker role in 2009 after the exit of Luiz Felipe Scolari, and could yet be primed to repeat that feat.

However, his second spell in charge of Chelsea ended prematurely Thursday, only seven months after he won his third Premier League title with the London club.

After Mourinho's exit from Stamford Bridge, the Spain worldwide paid tribute to the former Real Madrid coach.

That can't be healthy for him. There obviously seemed to be a palpable discord between manager and players.
