Johnny Depp leads Forbes' Most Overpaid Actors list

The most overpaid actors list stands in stark contrast with Forbes" "best actors for the buck' 2015 list, of which four of the top five are women.

"Training Day" star Denzel Washington, who will be honored at the upcoming Golden Globes Awards with the Cecil B. DeMille award, landed the No. 2 spot by returning $6.50 for every $1 he earned from his recent films. However, Forbes has admitted that Tatum failed to benefit from the success of this year's Magic Mike XXL, which arrived in USA multiplexes on 1 July, just after its cut off point.

Mortdecai strikes again. Johnny Depp was officially named the most overpaid actor of the year by Forbes.

According to the magazine, Depp only returned $1.20 for every $1 he was paid. However Depp's current movies returned just $1.20 for each $1 he was paid on them, in accordance to Forbes figures. This is mainly due to his appearance in the chaotic Wachowski siblings's space fantasy epic Jupiter Ascending, which was a box office bomb.

The outrageous star will be hoping that his return as the Mad Hatter in next year's Alice Through The Looking Glass and 2017's Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No tales restore some of his box office clout.

Depp was second on the list past year after the former number one Adam Sandler signed a deal with Netflix and made himself ineligible.

Mortdecai, which co-stars Gwyneth Paltrow, grossed $47.3-million worldwide on a reported $60-million budget.

Mila Kunis follows next ($87.30/$1) with Scarlet Johansson in third place and Chris Hemsworth who plays Thor, the God of Thunder in the Avengers franchise also making the list.
